    Two Stories:

I was 14 years old and mowing lawns during the weekends as a part time job. I used to mow the lawn of an office building that was opposite a funeral home. The lawn is divided into two parts, one lower and one higher with the higher one being directly opposite the funeral home. Anyway one day I had just finished mowing the lower part and started to head up to the higher part where I spot a lady in her mid 30's standing in the middle of the lawn clutching herself and looking down at the ground. Her clothes were modern, a red dress if I remember correctly, so I wasn't instantly surprised but it was a weekend and nobody was working on the premises except for me. I looked down and ignored it then looked up again to find her gone. Still don't know what to think of it.

Second story: I was 15 and with my good friend walking towards my high school to play basketball which was about a 5 minute walk away. We were just casually walking when I glance up and see a silver flying saucer fly across the sky. No shit. It was the stereotypical shape of one as well and was travelling at what I would guess as twice to three times the speed of a normal plane. Being a rational human being I stopped dead in my tracks and yelled 'WHAT THE FUCK?" at the top of my lungs. My friend looked up, went white and ran home to get his camera while I pursued it on foot. I lost it over the hills within a minute of us seeing it.

I don't believe in ghosts or aliens but these earn a "wtf man" from me.

    >But seriously, Joe Kennedy, who became one of the richest men in the world through insider trading, becomes chief enforcer of laws he custom designed to prevent his competitors from doing what he did, and 70+ years later

This has absolutely zero to do with Kennedy or politics. I simply happen to be a participant in the stock market and don't feel like getting robbed is a really great deal. The world isn't perfect, not all information is available immediately to the public. If it was then we wouldn't have to worry about insider trading.

    >"rek" on reddit is still tonguing up his ass. Hilarious.

Kid, you need to grow up.

Dude, some people are just thirsty and like soda better than water, but don't want to drink pure sugar all day. Would you say someone has a shit life and feels guilty about gluttony if they drink 4 glasses of water per day?

Also, if a person is trying to choose between drinking too much diet soda vs. too much regular soda, there is already pretty much proof that chronic overconsumption of sugar directly causes Metabolic Syndrome, which can lead to diabetes. You're better off just drinking water than either one, but the "empty" sugar in regular sodas is definitely worse physiologically than diet.

Who could guess so much propaganda and pure misinformation could exist in one article. The article is utterly chock full of such laughable ignorant assertions such as this:

    >But for the last three decades, this nation has retreated from those New Deal programs.

What total bullshit. What New Deal program has been eliminated or paired back? Social Security, Great Society Medicare & Medicaid is now crashing and burning like all Ponzi schmes do. Government has continued to grow and is out of control. Now they want to blame their failures on the pretend "free market", as they always do. It's the philosophy of Rahm Emanuel, don't let a crisis go by without using it as an excuse to give the government greater power and control.

From what you wrote, it appears you may have means to see a counselor. Have you any reservations about that? If you're able, you may also want to have a full physical with your family doctor, if you haven't recently just to see if all is well inside there. You could also mention to him/her you've been feeling depressed and he may have a recommendation for a good therapist.

What is going on right now economically is difficult for everyone so even if your life has been relatively stable, it's no surprise you may feel down. Plus the added stress of finding a mate, and a job is enough to make anyone feel insecure. Still, it doesn't hurt to see a counselor.

I used to sell ecstacy. I had tons of really good friends who loved to do it. When we would go out I would charge them full price for whatever they bought. When the night at the clubs came to an end we would leave and go to a house party. Once there I would usually give them their party favors. I ended up breaking even so I would be able to reup and they would get their party for pretty cheap. I don't know what this has to do with this question or why I typed it but I just felt like letting you know how I treated my friends as a drug dealer.

I mean pre-med, denied re-entry before starting junior year. I was primarily focused on bio, with a french minor. When I tried to sign up for my fall semester classes, they informed me there was an issue with one of my grants. A transcript from another school had been "lost", and the credits were needed to keep the grant. Despite proof to the contrary, the registrar and the student loan office insisted I was short my tuition because of the grant, and it went back and forth for more than a year. I tried to consult a lawyer, but the paper trail was ridiculous, and I couldn't afford it. I eventually dropped it, and assumed I would go back once I raised enough money to just pay the tuition outright, and then became pregnant, and lost all interest. I was hoping to become an obstetrician, ironically enough.

During college my 2 roommates and I embarked on a nice mushroom trip, with a non-participating helper just to make sure things didn't go wrong. We'll one of my roommates kept wanting to go out to the parking lot of the dorm, and after a couple of tries he finally told us that Hitler had sent a staff car for him and that if he didn't go his family would be killed. Our helper kept my roommate calm and we continued our very enjoyable evening. About 4 hours in there is a knock at the door, and it's a good friend of mine, who is also tripping on Mushrooms, and is more than a little freaked out. We bring him into the room and our helper manages to calm him down, and once calmed down he tells us why he's freaked out, he went out for a walk but upon leaving the dorm there was a Nazi staff car double parked and an solider walking around impatiently. Our friend told us that he froze in terror and couldn't move until the solider put out his cigarette and drove away in anger. Once the car left he came to my room because he knew it would be safe and we had a helper with us. Of course my roommate who thought that Hitler sent a staff car for him ran out of the room screaming hoping to catch the car so that his family would not be killed. The rest of the night was spent in crises management mode trying to keep my roommate from leaving in search of the car, we did need to place a call to his parents, that was a strange phone call to get I'm sure.

Now the guy that showed up was my friend, but didn't know my roommates other than to say hi, no one left our room, and the opportunity for the mushroom trip came up at the last minute, so there was no way for my friend and my roommate to plan this, based on how everyone behaved it couldn't not have been a gag. Plus who would pull a gag where they place a call to their parents tripped out of their mind telling them to go into hiding because Hitler is going to have them killed. Also there were four other people who also claim to have seen the staff car, and four or five who claim to have seen one driving off campus. Freaked out a lot of people that night.

A typical year-long research project. One of the main topics that is gathering a lot of interest is "cybersecurity." I've settled on a project in computational linguistics by now, but perhaps you could share some of those ideas..? I am interested in black hat more than white hat, because I feel that understanding black hat is the only appropriate way to approach white hat security. And no, I would assume that the people that I am presenting to are reasonably well-versed.

It's just the idea of "researching" something in network security that boggles me. What CAN I do?

actually, we didn't. all these "rich" financial firms always operated arm in arm with the govt. if we actually took away ALL legislation written to benefit them, and legislation written against them, THEN we would have a free market and they would be allowed to compete.

what you fail to realize is that you advocate giving MORE power to the govt, the same people that caused this problem. ratings agencies given monopolies by the state, mortgage market implicitly backed by the state, good grief, i could go on with how the govt was so in bed with wall street that we could not possibly have a free market. yet here you are wanting to give even MORE regulation and control to the same govt. makes no sense.

you should research john allison and how BB&T made it through the financial crisis.

So wait a minute. You do realize that if you want to convince this crowd of her unfit-ness to be your wife, you need to come up with your absolute BEST examples of her bitchiness. And here you are agreeing with us that those examples are actually REASONABLE on her part. So either you didn't give us the best examples, or those were the best examples and you have absolutely no ground to stand on other than being a guy that doesn't know how to a) take valid criticism and/or b) adequately defend yourself when the criticism isn't valid.

To back up for one second though, like I said originally, my wife was very similar. Turns out she was manic depressive. I gave her an ultimatum, we got counselling and she got meds, and we're still married, over a decade later.

I'd suggest letting him know what you know, and talking about it directly. He was probably trying to "get himself in the mood" and someone from the past can be a "safe" image when currently having anxiety issues. In the end, it's not about whether or not it was more of a douchebag thing to do what he did, or to spy on him. But the important thing is to not become one of those sad, sorry couples with secrets. That's why you have to let him know that you saw what you did or you'll carry suppressed guilt that'll make the relationship more uneasy over time. If everything is out in the open, and you're both able to work through any resentments that come up, there'll be at least a chance of working things through.

Really, please obey the law. The law is the only thing that holds society together, now that religion is gone. The anonymouses of the Internet really should have respect for the law, because it's in their own best interest as a citizen. Here's the law for what you're advocating:

    >US CODE: TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 31 >

§ 641. Public money, property or records

    >Whoever embezzles, steals, purloins, or knowingly converts to his use or the use of another, or without authority, sells, conveys or disposes of any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof, or any property made or being made under contract for the United States or any department or agency thereof; or

Whoever receives, conceals, or retains the same with intent to convert it to his use or gain, knowing it to have been embezzled, stolen, purloined or converted—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; but if the value of such property in the aggregate, combining amounts from all the counts for which the defendant is convicted in a single case, does not exceed the sum of $1,000, he shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

The word “value” means face, par, or market value, or cost price, either wholesale or retail, whichever is greater.
